Gearhart Life
Thoughtful planning and development continue to be the cornerstone
for preserving our pristine coastal meadow community. On its
eastern border lies the beautiful Neacoxie Creek, this is
ripe with scores of plant and animal species. Directly to
the west of Gearhart Meadows is the Gearhart Public Golf Course,
the oldest golf course in the state, which offers some of
the finest and most challenging tees on the Oregon Coast.
On the west side of the course lies the mighty Pacific Ocean.
Peaceful, serene, friendly, and beautiful are just
a few adjectives that could easily describe this small coastal
village tucked away just 80 miles northwest of Portland. Its
character is laid back and inviting, its inhabitants and visitors
gracious and kind. Gearhart is the perfect place to raise
a family, enjoy the fruits of your retirement, or just get
away for a weekend of relaxation and fun.
Gearhart and the surrounding area offer a great number of
activities and attractions that have broad appeal to any set
of interests. A short walk from your new home will put you
on one of Oregon's longest beaches, where you can get
your morning exercise, dig for delicious razor clams, build
sandcastles, or just enjoy a stunning sunset; all with the
great Tillamook Head perched in view to the south.
If golf is your game, take a leisurely stroll to the
Gearhart Golf Links and play a round of 9 or 18. Additionally,
the Highlands Golf Course, just north or the neighborhood
offers 9 more challenging holes to keep your game sharp. Gearhart
also boasts community tennis and basketball courts, as well as a private gym.
The area is full of great shopping, including several
specialty stores in Gearhart, all of your necessities 2 miles
away in Seaside, and a vibrant and fun Sunday market in Astoria
that features creative art, delicious foods and inventive
crafts.

Exceptional dining is one of the greatest features
of the area. If you enjoy seafood, you've come to the right
place for ocean fresh fare cooked to perfection.
Perhaps you like to strap on your hiking boots, and
explore the vicinity's natural area. The historic Ridge Trail
borders Neacoxie Creek, and traverses through most of Gearhart.
Other opportunities abound including a walk over Tillamook
head, a climb to Saddle mountain, the highest point on the
Oregon coast range, or a visit some of the nearby state
parks.
Fishing is a popular pastime in the area. Charter
boats head off shore from several launching points within
a few minutes drive. They will take you to premier locations,
where you will be able to catch fresh salmon or sturgeon.
Several smaller fishing holes also dot the area, but you will
have to live here to discover those closely gaurded secrets.
Several other notable attractions surround the area
including the towering Astor Column in Astoria, Haystack Rock,
art galleries and fine dining in Cannon Beach, the Seaside
Aquarium, Oregon's official State Maritime museum, Fort Clatsop,
and Old Fort Stevens Military museum.
